And in the end the best you can hope for is to find a place to make a stand. And if you’re very lucky, you will find someone willing to stand with you.

Claudia died. Who? Claudia, your cousin Claudia. Claudia! I’m hearing the name, mom. I have no idea who that is. Claudia’s your cousin for all intents and purposes. Ahh, now we’re getting to it. She was your father’s grandmother’s sister’s girl. So to you that would make her… Nothing? - 1x05 “Cinnamon’s Wake”

"You’re a very graceful woman, Inara."
"I… thank you."
"So here’s where I’m fuzzy. You got by that girl, came and found me, and somehow you just happened to trip and fall."
"What do you mean?"
"C’mon, Inara."

The six main women of Gilmore Girls. What I find interesting is that Lorelai’s relationships with Sookie and Emily parallel Rory’s relationships with Lane and Paris quite well. Sookie and Lane are the best-friend-to-the-point-of-almost-being-sisters, while with Emily and Paris they have complicated, contentious relationships that can either be really good or really bad, depending on the situation (and can change in an instant). Consequently, in a way they almost have deeper relationships with those two than with the ones they get along with most of the time.

(Also, it’s kind of cool because that’s represented visually in these particular pictures by the fact that Lorelai and Rory are posing in a similar position, as are Sookie and Lane, and Emily and Paris. This was completely unintentional but I think it serves to illustrate my point even further.)
